Margaret Carlin lives in Scotland. She is married to Geoff, a medical practitioner. They have three teenage sons. The family are practising Roman Catholics. In 1985, at the age of 31, Margaret experienced a deep call to pray for souls in Purgatory and started to pray for them using Rosary Prayer. Eventually Margaret began to have an awareness of either individuals souls or groups of souls as she prayed and indeed started to see and hear them in an interior way ( interior vision and locution ).
By 1986 this phenomenon was a regular occurrence, happening several times each week. She reported what she was seeing and hearing to Geoff who was bemused and indeed surprised by what was happening, especially as some of the souls could be identified as being people he had known in the past, professionally and socially, who were not known to Margaret. At the same time Geoff, through the efforts of Padre Pio, started to open up spiritually and the couple moved from being Roman Catholics whose only involvement with their faith and God was mainly mass on a Sunday, to people who prayed regularly and knew that Jesus was a part of every aspect of their lives.
It must be stressed at this point that Margaret is not a spiritualist or a medium, and that neither Margaret nor Geoff have any interest in, or connection with 'churches', or individuals, who seek to venture into the occult ( in the sense of hidden and also in the sense of evil ); indeed, Margaret cannot initiate or control her experiences, God 'allowed' and guides whatever happens.
It must be further stressed that Geoff sees or hears nothing; he simply records and writes down what Margaret says she is experiencing. However, what she witnesses might involve some symbolic action affecting him.
Experiences with souls and 'messages' continued down the years, the depth and intensity of the experiences increasing as the couple's spirituality grew and developed. In 1990 the matter was reported to The Roman Catholic Church and the process of examining Margaret and what is claimed as Divine Communication began.
After settling in another part of Scotland, Margaret "saw" and "heard" Our Blessed Mother, Mary during the rosary after morning mass: this happened on September 16th 1991, and a new phase of her spiritual experiences began.
Most of Margaret's experiences are interior in nature, and she stresses that there is nothing "special" about her. She states, "Every person receives gifts of the Holy Spirit, and it is our duty and our joy to share these gifts. Everyone is equal in God's eyes. Of ourselves, we are nothing - but because of God's Love and Mercy, we are each His precious child."
